S Rimarenko, I S Schwartz

    American Journal of Clinical Pathology
    |April 1, 1985

    Area of Science:

    • Otolaryngology
    • Pathology
    • Immunology

    Background:

    • Nasal cavity lesions can present with diverse pathologies.
    • Chronic nasal obstruction necessitates thorough investigation of underlying causes.

    Observation:

    • A 48-year-old woman presented with chronic nasal obstruction due to a polypoid lesion.
    • The lesion comprised aggregated nodules of benign lymphoid tissue with germinal centers.

    Findings:

    • The nasal lesion was histologically characterized as a benign lymphocytic proliferation.
    • No evidence of lymphadenopathy or systemic lymphoid disorder was found.
    • This represents the first reported case of nasal cavity pseudolymphoma.

    Implications:

    • This finding expands the differential diagnosis for nasal cavity masses.
    • Highlights the importance of considering non-neoplastic lymphoid proliferations in the sinonasal tract.
    • Further research may elucidate the specific etiology and behavior of this condition in the nasal cavity.
