In Situ Gelling Dexamethasone Oromucosal Formulation: Physical Characteristics Influencing Drug Delivery

This study developed an in situ gelling oromucosal formulation for aphthous stomatitis using dexamethasone (DEX). The best formulation, containing DEX, mint essential oil (EO), and propylene glycol (PG) in hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), showed good swelling and drug release with low irritation.
