Background:

  • Standardized guidelines for heart transplant (HTx) graft allocation are lacking, especially for marginal donors and donors after cardiocirculatory arrest.
  • Primary graft dysfunction (PGD) is a severe HTx complication, and existing predictive scores are complex and lack superior predictive capability.
  • There is a need for a user-friendly risk analysis tool to improve the organ allocation process and PGD prediction.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop a user-friendly score for predicting severe primary graft dysfunction (PGD) in heart transplantation (HTx).
  • To integrate key risk factors from existing systems into a simplified, clinically applicable tool.
  • To enhance the efficacy of organ allocation and minimize PGD risk post-HTx.

  • A meta-analysis of six studies was conducted to identify risk factors for severe PGD.
