Background:

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly impacting healthcare quality.
Limited research exists on AI's practical application in Saudi Arabia's healthcare sector.
Conflicting professional opinions highlight the need for more data on AI adoption.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the knowledge of nurses regarding AI applications in practice.
Focus on nurses within a Ministry of Health hospital in Saudi Arabia.

Main Methods:

Descriptive cross-sectional study conducted in January 2023.
Convenience sampling of 307 staff nurses.
Utilized an 11-item questionnaire assessing AI knowledge, risks, and advantages.

Main Results:

Significant differences in AI familiarity and future use were found across age and work location groups.
Nurse's gender significantly influenced the future use of AI.
Educational level did not show a significant impact on AI knowledge.

Conclusions:

Nurses generally hold positive views on AI's potential to expedite procedures and reduce errors.
AI integration in healthcare can enhance care quality.
Academic institutions should develop best practices for AI deployment in healthcare.
