Background:

  • Collision skin lesions (CSLs) are rare entities with distinct benign and/or malignant neoplastic cell populations.
  • CSLs pose diagnostic and therapeutic challenges due to their complex nature.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To analyze and present surgically treated cases of collision skin lesions.
  • To contribute to understanding the management of these rare tumors.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective review of patients treated in a Dermatosurgical Unit from 2021-2022.
  • Exclusion of lesions arising from preexisting conditions or separable lesions at the same site.

Main Results:

  • Out of 838 patients, 4 cases of collision tumors were identified and histologically confirmed.
  • The cases included one benign-benign collision tumor and three benign-malignant collision tumors.

Conclusions:

  • Collision tumors present diagnostic challenges requiring high awareness and early detection, often aided by dermoscopy.
  • Excisional biopsy is a favorable approach, prioritizing the more aggressive tumor component.
  • Further research is essential for understanding pathogenesis and optimizing treatment strategies.
