Radiological Investigation I: X-ray and CT01:30

Radiological Investigation I: X-ray and CT

203
Radiological investigations, including X-rays and computed tomography (CT) scans, are critical for diagnosing and evaluating various medical conditions. These imaging techniques provide valuable insights into the body's internal structures, aiding in the detection of abnormalities, assessment of disease progression, and development of treatment strategies. This article delves into two primary radiological investigations, chest X-rays and CT scans, outlining their purpose, procedures, and...

Radiological Investigation II: MRI and Ventilation Perfusion Scan

97
Description
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Ventilation Perfusion Scans are two radiological investigations that offer detailed diagnostic images of the body, particularly lung structures.
MRI
MRI uses magnetic fields and radiofrequency signals to distinguish between normal and abnormal tissues. This technology provides a more detailed diagnostic image than CT scans, enabling it to characterize pulmonary nodules, stage bronchogenic carcinoma, and evaluate inflammatory activity in...

Issues And Trends In Healthcare Delivery System

5.6K
The issues and trends in healthcare delivery are constantly changing. The COVID-19 pandemic is one recent issue that wreaked havoc on healthcare systems, causing a shortage of healthcare workers, high demand for medicines and supplies, and increased medical expenditure due to a lack of insurance. Other issues include rising healthcare costs and care fragmentation.
Cost Containment
Payment for healthcare services has historically promoted adoption of costly and often unnecessary or inefficient...

Imaging Studies I: CT and MRI

176
Introduction: MRI and CT scans are crucial advancements in medical imaging techniques, playing a vital role in diagnosing conditions related to the gastrointestinal (GI) system. Each scan serves distinct purposes, targets specific areas, and requires unique nursing duties.
Description of the Procedures
Computed Tomography (CT) scan:
Computed Tomography (CT) scans use X-ray technology to generate detailed images of bones, organs, and tissues. During the scan, the patient lies on a moving table...

Magnetic Resonance Imaging01:24

Magnetic Resonance Imaging

4.9K
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive medical imaging technique based on a phenomenon of nuclear physics discovered in the 1930s, in which matter exposed to magnetic fields and radio waves was found to emit radio signals. In 1970, a physician and researcher named Raymond Damadian noticed that malignant (cancerous) tissue gave off different signals than normal body tissue. He applied for a patent for the first MRI scanning device in clinical use by the early 1980s. The early MRI...

Radiological Investigation III: Pulmonary Angiogram and PET Scan

82
Radiological investigations are paramount in the diagnosis and management of various pulmonary diseases. Two essential investigations are the Pulmonary Angiogram and the Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Scan.
Pulmonary Angiogram
A Pulmonary Angiogram is an invasive procedure involving injecting a contrast medium through a catheter threaded into the pulmonary artery or the right side of the heart to visualize the pulmonary vasculature. Computed Tomography (CT) scans have mainly replaced this...

Background:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming medical science, particularly in radiology.
  • Understanding radiologist perspectives on AI is vital for its effective integration into practice.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the awareness, attitudes, and practices of Indian radiologists and residents regarding AI in radiology.
  • To identify educational needs and potential barriers to AI adoption in the field.

Main Methods:

  • A cross-sectional online survey was administered to members of the Indian Radiology & Imaging Association (IRIA).
  • The anonymous questionnaire collected data on AI awareness, usage, perceptions, and educational interests.
  • Data from 404 participants were analyzed using descriptive statistics and chi-square tests.

Main Results:

  • 95.3% of respondents expressed a strong interest in learning more about AI and recommended educational initiatives.
  • Only 27.9% of radiologists were concerned about job displacement due to AI.
