    Background:

    • Ragweed pollen-induced rhinoconjunctivitis is a common allergic condition.
    • Current treatments for hay fever may have limitations.
    • Polyethylene glycol (PEG)-modified ragweed extract offers a novel therapeutic approach.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of PEG-modified ragweed extract in adults with ragweed-induced rhinoconjunctivitis.
    • To assess the immunologic response to PEG-modified ragweed extract immunotherapy.

    Main Methods:

    • A 2-year, placebo-controlled study involving 62 ragweed-sensitive adults.
    • Subjects received weekly injections of PEG-modified ragweed extract or placebo, with stratified dosing based on sensitivity.
    • Immunological markers, including specific IgG and IgE antibodies, were measured.

    • Further research may explore long-term efficacy and optimal dosing strategies.
