Summary

This study shows an ultralow-volume polyethylene glycol (PEG) bowel preparation is effective for colonoscopy. The regimen achieved a 91.8% adequate preparation rate with minimal side effects.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the effectiveness and safety of a specific ultralow-volume bowel preparation regimen for colonoscopy.
  • To determine the rate of adequate bowel preparation using the Boston Bowel Preparation Scale (BBPS).

Main Methods:

  • A retrospective analysis of 773 outpatients undergoing colonoscopy between January and December 2022.
  • Patients received sennoside, sodium picosulfate, and 500 mL PEG with lactulose.
