Abstract:

A comparison of alcohol-related and nonalcohol-related diagnoses among immigrants in New York State Psychiatric facilities yielded differences according to birthplace. Over 50% of the Irish men vs only 4% of the Italian men were hospitalized for alcohol-related diagnoses.
