    Background:

    • Cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) is a cerebrovascular disease characterized by amyloid-beta deposition in the walls of cerebral arteries.
    • CAA is a significant cause of spontaneous lobar intracerebral hemorrhage, particularly in the elderly population.
    • Distinguishing CAA-related hemorrhage from other causes of intracranial bleeding is crucial for appropriate patient management.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the clinicopathological features of cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA).
    • To evaluate the role of computed tomography (CT) in identifying CAA-related intracranial hemorrhage.
    • To determine imaging characteristics that differentiate CAA from other causes of hemorrhage in the elderly.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective study of 24 patients with autopsy-proven cerebral amyloid angiopathy.
    • Review of clinical data, including cognitive status and cause of death.

    • CT imaging can aid in differentiating CAA-related intracranial hemorrhage from other causes in the elderly.
