This study found that while p16 and human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA positivity were not significantly correlated, patients with both markers (double-positive) showed improved survival outcomes in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC). This suggests a potential for de-escalation strategies in this specific patient group.
