Flap vs. Flapless Implant Placement in Immediate Functional Loading: A Comparative Analysis

Aim:
The aim of the current study was to evaluate crestal bone loss by utilizing flapless and flap implant placement procedures.
Methods:
For this investigation, a total of 60 patients who met the inclusion criteria were chosen. Following selection, patients were split evenly into two study groups: flap surgery and flapless surgery for implant placement. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used for statistical analysis. The crestal bone loss was taken at baseline, 3 months, and 6 months.
Result:
The mean age of all study participants, who were males, was 42.53 ± 4.25 years. Statistically significant P values (P = 0.03) were attained on comparing the groups on the mesial side, while on the distal side, the results were not significant. The flapless method resulted in less bone loss.
Conclusion:
Compared to flap surgery, flapless implant implantation showed decreased crestal bone loss.
