Abstract:
Supravesical hernias are a rare type of internal hernias where intra-abdominal content herniates into the supravesical fossa and further into the prevesical space of Retzius. These hernias may become obstructed and present in the emergency setting. However, due to the lack of an externally visible Swelling, there may be a delay in the diagnosis of these cases. A CT scan can effectively and quickly confirm the bowel obstruction as well as identify the site of these internal hernias. Prompt emergent repair with laparoscopy is effective in reducing the contents from the hernial sac and closing the defect. Patients treated in this manner have an excellent recovery and speedy return to daily activity.
