Summary

High docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) levels protect against acne, while high linoleic acid (LA) and omega-6:omega-3 ratios increase acne risk. These polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) effects are genetically influenced, particularly by FADS1 variants.
