[New Device of Lymphedema Treatment(Pneumatic Lymphatic Drainage: PLD)]

There is no cure for lymphedema. The complex decongestive therapy(CDT)is a multimodal therapy, which is recognized as a conservative management of lymphedema and consists of compression therapy(ie, multilayer bandaging), manual lymphatic drainage(MLD), exercise and skin care. Pneumatic lymphatic drainage(PLD)has been developed in the treatment of lymphedema in Japan. The purpose of our study was to test the efficacy PLD for upper or lower limb lymphedema. Between November 2023 and June 2024, 20 patients diagnosed with lymphedema were selected for this prospective study and they received PLD. As a result, PLD reduced lymphedema of upper or lower limb significantly and there was no common adverse. Therefore, PLD for lymphedema seems to be effective and generally tolerable.
