Background:
Using a robotic linear stapler for Braun anastomosis in robotic distal gastrectomy(RDG)with Billroth Ⅱ reconstruction is challenging due to the proximity of Braun anastomosis to the manipulating port. To overcome this problem, we performed Braun anastomosis using robotic hand sewing.
Methods:
After robotic gastrectomy, we performed a side-to-side gastrojejunostomy using a linear stapler and barbed sutures. Braun anastomosis was performed using robotic hand sewing in an Albert-Lembert fashion. We performed this procedure on 19 patients from April 2021 to May 2024 and retrospectively evaluated its short-term outcomes.
Results:
The median operative time was 337(273-550)minutes and median reconstruction time was 54(42-63)minutes. There were no perioperative complications.
Conclusions:
Billroth Ⅱ reconstruction after RDG with Braun anastomosis by robotic hand sewing is a safe procedure for short-term outcomes.
