SARS-CoV-2 infection can trigger a life-threatening adrenal crisis in patients with pheochromocytoma. Close blood pressure monitoring and increased alpha-blocker dosage are recommended for these patients during COVID-19 outbreaks.

Background:
- Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) primarily causes viral pneumonia but can manifest with endocrine complications.
- Pheochromocytomas, rare adrenal medulla tumors, cause symptoms due to unregulated catecholamine release, which can be triggered by various stressors.
- The potential for SARS-CoV-2 infection to precipitate an adrenergic crisis in pheochromocytoma patients has not been previously documented.
