Summary

The electronic psychosocial support intervention (eMaP) for parents of children with cancer was feasible and acceptable, significantly reducing parental distress and improving quality of life. Further studies are needed to refine the intervention and confirm effectiveness.

Parents of children with cancer face significant psychosocial distress.

To evaluate the preliminary effectiveness of the eMaP intervention.
To assess implementation outcomes including feasibility, acceptability, and cost.
To explore the impact of eMaP on parental psychosocial well-being.

A pilot implementation-effectiveness study integrated eMaP into standard care.
Parents completed online distress screening; high-distress individuals received social worker support.
Feasibility assessed via uptake/completion rates; cost via social worker time; acceptability via interviews.

Main Results:

High parent participation (86%) indicated strong interest in eMaP.
Parents receiving social worker support showed significant reductions in distress and improved quality of life.
Both parents and social workers found routine screening feasible and valuable.
