[Treatment results in 45 patients with retinoblastoma]

Between 1963 and 1983 45 cases of retinoblastoma had been treated at Zürich University Eye Clinic. Treatment strategies and their results are presented and discussed. Forty patients have survived. Late complications of treatment are of particular interest: In 14 eyes which had been treated with combined chemotherapy, irradiation, and selective photocoagulation, a cataract developed during the follow-up period (4 to 20 years). With regard to irradiation syndrome, no other complications were observed.
