The relation of sodium transport to blood pressure in the adrenalectomized rat
Abstract:
The effects of treatment of the adrenalectomized rat with aldosterone or corticosterone were observed daily for 3 days. Blood pressure and plasma electrolytes were normalized within 24 h but cell Na and K remained essentially unchanged throughout. We conclude that blood pressure is associated with Na transport activity rather than with cell [Na].
