Homologous Recombination02:31

Homologous Recombination

50.0K
The basic reaction of homologous recombination (HR) involves two chromatids that contain DNA sequences sharing a significant stretch of identity. One of these sequences uses a strand from another as a template to synthesize DNA in an enzyme-catalyzed reaction. The final product is a novel amalgamation of the two substrates. To ensure an accurate recombination of sequences, HR is restricted to the S and G2 phases of the cell cycle. At these stages, the DNA has been replicated already and the...

Censoring Survival Data01:09

Censoring Survival Data

55
Survival analysis is a statistical method used to analyze time-to-event data, often employed in fields such as medicine, engineering, and social sciences. One of the key challenges in survival analysis is dealing with incomplete data, a phenomenon known as "censoring." Censoring occurs when the event of interest (such as death, relapse, or system failure) has not occurred for some individuals by the end of the study period or is otherwise unobservable, and it might have many different...

Area of Science:

  • Cybersecurity
  • Cloud Computing
  • Network Security

Background:

  • The China Railway Cloud Center (CRCC) faces escalating security threats as more information systems migrate to its platform.
  • Cyber Mimic Defense (CMD) technology, utilizing Dynamic Heterogeneous Redundancy (DHR), offers an active defense strategy but faces challenges with resource limitations and memorization-based attacks.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To enhance the reliability of the CRCC-DHR architecture, specifically addressing the challenges of limited heterogeneous resources and memorization-based attacks.
  • To improve the deployability of DHR within the CRCC by ensuring robust defense capabilities.

Main Methods:

  • Proposed three metrics for assessing the reliability of the CRCC-DHR architecture.
  • Developed an incomplete-information-based game model to analyze attacker-defender dynamics.
  • Introduced the Entropy Weight Scheduling Algorithm (REWS) for redundant-heterogeneous-resources scheduling.

Main Results:

  • REWS demonstrated superior reliability compared to three existing algorithms in simulations.
  • REWS exhibited a lower time complexity than the compared existing algorithms.
  • The proposed metrics and game model effectively assessed CRCC-DHR reliability.

Conclusions:

  • The REWS algorithm effectively improves the reliability of CRCC-DHR architectures against memorization-based attacks, even with limited resources.
  • REWS offers a more efficient and reliable solution for deploying DHR in cloud environments like the CRCC.
  • This work contributes to strengthening the security posture of critical railway information systems.
