Background:

  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is associated with accelerated aging processes, including telomere shortening.
  • Inflammation and poor glycemic control are key complications in T2DM.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the effects of a 24-week multistrain probiotic intervention on telomere length in patients with T2DM.
  • To assess the impact of probiotics on secondary outcomes such as high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c).
