Vaccination is a vital component of pediatric healthcare, safeguarding children from numerous preventable diseases. In India, the 'Universal Immunisation Programme' and 'Intensified Mission Indradhanush' offer free vaccinations to protect against 12 diseases. Additionally, the Indian Academy of Pediatrics recommends several other vaccines. However, even with a comprehensive national program and updated guidelines, pediatricians often encounter practical challenges and uncertainties concerning childhood vaccinations in their office practice. This article seeks to address these issues by examining the common controversies surrounding immunization. The review covers different vaccination schedules, strategies for special circumstances, frequently asked questions, proper vaccine storage, and ways to combat vaccine hesitancy.
