Summary

Physiological reactive oxygen species (ROS) concentrations, not elevated oxidative stress, correlate with better breast cancer prognosis. These ROS levels negatively associate with cancer cell proliferation (Ki-67) and lymph node metastasis, suggesting a protective role.

  • Breast cancer (BC) is a global health concern linked to oxidative stress.
  • Oxidative stress arises from an imbalance between reactive oxygen species (ROS) and antioxidant defenses.
  • Key oxidative stress markers include 8-Hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) and protein carbonyl.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess oxidative stress markers (8-OHdG, protein carbonyl) in Algerian BC patients.
  • To investigate associations with pathological, immunohistochemical, and immune parameters (IL-6).
  • To explore relationships within different BC molecular and histological subtypes.
