Abstract:
Biofilm forming bacteria are accountable for a lot of life-threatening infection and diseases in human. Bacterial biofilm resistance has emerged as a significant attention, requires for the development of antimicrobial agent. The biogenic synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from an extremophilic bacterium Deinococcus radiodurans and the development of a nanoconjugate to deliver curcumin are the primary goals of this study. The material (AgNPs and its Nanoconjugate) were characterized by UV-Vis, XRD, FT-IR, SEM and DLS with ZETA potential. AgNPs are spherical in shape, with an average particle size of about 20 nm according to SEM and a surface charge of -33 mV noted from Zeta Potential. The Curcumin (Cur) loading and release efficiency was investigated along with curcumin potential for antibiofilm activity. MIC and MBC techniques were used to distinguish between live and dead cells in order to illustrate the antibiofilm effect. The results of this investigation demonstrated that the biogenic production of AgNPs and the nanoconjugate AgNPs-PEG-Cur holding promise for antimicrobial applications.
