Small dense low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (sdLDL-c) is a significant predictor of new atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases (ASCVD) in elderly men aged 64-76. This study found sdLDL-c to be a better marker than LDL-c for ASCVD risk in this demographic.

- Baseline lipid/apolipoprotein levels did not differ between ASCVD and control groups.
- sdLDL-c demonstrated comparable or superior predictive value for ASCVD compared to ApoB and LDL-c, particularly in younger elderly men.
