    Area of Science:

    • Endocrinology
    • Otolaryngology

    Background:

    • Subacute de Quervain's thyroiditis is an inflammatory condition of the thyroid gland.
    • Vocal cord paralysis is a potential complication of head and neck pathologies.

    Observation:

    • A 44-year-old male patient presented with subacute de Quervain's thyroiditis.
    • The patient developed vocal cord paralysis during the course of his thyroiditis treatment.

    Findings:

    • Vocal cord paralysis persisted in the patient even after the resolution of subacute de Quervain's thyroiditis.
    • This suggests a potential link or complication beyond the acute inflammatory phase.

    Implications:

    • Persistent vocal cord paralysis may require further investigation and management strategies.
    • This case highlights the importance of monitoring for neurological complications in patients with thyroiditis.
