Post-traumatic lumbar discal fracture: A case report

Spinal trauma injuries result from extrinsic insults inflicted on the vertebral columns and/or structures contained in the vertebral canal. Among the structures likely to be affected is the intervertebral disc, although rarely affected, they are mainly represented by disc herniation and are rarely isolated. We report a rare case of a woman with a traumatic discal fracture secondary to a high-velocity trauma. A full-body computed tomography and a lumbar magnetic resonance imaging revealed a lumbar discal fracture with bony adjacent fractures and a presacral hematoma associated with ligamentous injuries.
