Introduction:
The present position paper focuses on screening individuals from the general population who are interested in engaging in leisure time physical activities. This document, which relies on the expert perspective of the Sports Cardiology Forum of the Israeli Heart Society, was created to equip attending physicians with essential tools for addressing such inquiries. Given that sudden death resulting from ischemic heart disease is the leading cause of mortality among individuals over 35 years old who participate in high-intensity sports, screening within this demographic aims to detect coronary disease and its risk factors. Regular physical activity is a crucial component of healthy living, with its benefits outweighing potential risks. Asymptomatic individuals planning to undertake light to moderate physical activity, even if they are at high risk for atherosclerotic disease, do not necessitate preparticipation evaluation.

Radiological Investigation III: Pulmonary Angiogram and PET Scan
Pulmonary Angiogram
A Pulmonary Angiogram is an invasive procedure involving injecting a contrast medium through a catheter threaded into the pulmonary artery or the right side of the heart to visualize the pulmonary vasculature. Computed Tomography (CT) scans have mainly replaced this...
Exercise Stress Test
Exercise stress testing, commonly known as a treadmill test, is a noninvasive procedure used to evaluate cardiovascular function and diagnose heart conditions.
Definition
An exercise stress test measures the heart's response to exertion using a treadmill or stationary bicycle. Chest electrodes record the heart's electrical activity through an ECG, and blood pressure is monitored regularly.
Purposes
Exercise and Cardiovascular Response
Light to moderate physical activity initiates a series of interconnected responses in the body. The heart rate modestly increases in anticipation of the workout, followed by widespread vasodilation as oxygen consumption by skeletal muscles increases. This results in decreased peripheral resistance, increased capillary blood flow, and accelerated...
