Abstract:
Rhinophyma is a severe form of rosacea that leads to unsightly thickening and progressive deformation of the nose. Beyond the physical symptoms, such as respiratory discomfort in extreme cases, rhinophyma is primarily marked by strong social stigma. The red, bulbous appearance of the nose, often associated in literature and art with stereotypes related to alcoholism, perpetuates unfounded prejudices. This misconception can cause embarrassment in affected patients, diminishing their self-confidence and sometimes leading to social isolation. The treatment of rhinophyma mainly relies on ablative interventional methods aimed at reducing excess tissue. This article examines the rhinoshave technique using a disposable razor with a fixed head, detailing its advantages and risks.
