Background:

Children with disabilities are at higher risk for neglect due to dependency and social isolation.
Neglect is an under-researched but significant issue for children with disabilities.

Purpose of the Study:

To conduct a scoping review of neglect among children with disabilities over the past decade.
To assess prevalence, characteristics, and risk factors of neglect in this population.
To identify research gaps and inform policy and interventions.

Main Methods:

Systematic literature search following PRISMA-ScR guidelines across multiple databases.
Inclusion of studies on neglect in children with disabilities published in English within the last ten years.
Thematic analysis to extract and categorize findings.

Main Results:

Sixteen studies revealed significantly higher neglect prevalence in children with disabilities.
Intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and sensory impairments are associated with higher neglect risks.
Parental stress, economic hardship, and systemic failures are key risk factors.

Conclusions:

Urgent need for targeted interventions, professional training, and policy reforms for neglected children with disabilities.
Existing child protection frameworks inadequately address the unique needs of this population.
Future research should focus on culturally sensitive, disability-specific support systems.
