Radiation-induced contrast enhancement (RICE) is common after intensity modulated proton therapy (IMPT) for brain tumors, often appearing in high-dose areas. Minimizing dose to periventricular regions may reduce RICE risk.

- RICE is infrequently symptomatic, with most lesions showing improvement over time.
- Consideration of periventricular-sparing techniques during IMPT planning may mitigate RICE risk.
