Abstract:
Segmentectomies of the lung base, such as S9, S10 or S9+S10, present technical difficulties because they do not connect directly to the interlobar fissure. The lung base-flip approach offers easier access to the individual segmental vessels and bronchi. We performed a segmentectomy of the lung base using this approach. To identify the corresponding vessels and bronchi, flipped three-dimensional chest computed tomography images and intraoperative bronchoscopy are essential.
