Long-time behavior of solutions to free boundary problems modeling tumor evolution
1Department of Mathematics, Morgan State University, Baltimore, MD 21251, USA.
Abstract:
In this paper, we consider some free boundary problems that arise in the mathematical modeling of cancer and its treatment. In these models, a parameter η is introduced to represent either the killing rate of the cancer cells by the T cells or a drug called checkpoint inhibitor. We study the long time behavior of the tumor as the parameter η varies.

Tumor Progression
Colon cancer is one of the best-documented examples of tumor progression. Early mutation in the APC gene in colon cells causes a small growth on the colon wall called a polyp. With time, this polyp grows into a benign, pre-cancerous tumor. Further...

Epithelial-to-Mesenchymal Transition
The epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition or EMT is a developmental process commonly observed in wound healing, embryogenesis, and cancer metastasis. EMT is induced by transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) or receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) ligands, which further...
