    Summary

    Computed tomography (CT) effectively detects osteoid osteoma, identifying a radiolucent nidus and osteosclerosis. CT is superior to plain films and conventional tomography for diagnosing deep-seated or complex-region osteoid osteomas.

    Background:

    • Osteoid osteoma is a benign bone tumor.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy of computed tomography (CT) in diagnosing osteoid osteoma.
    • To compare CT with plain films and conventional tomography.

    • Retrospective analysis of 17 patients diagnosed with osteoid osteoma.
    • Review of imaging findings from computed tomography, plain films, and conventional tomography.

    • Computed tomography identified a radiolucent nidus with osteosclerosis in all 17 patients.

    • CT is particularly valuable for lesions in the acetabulum, knee, and spine.
    • CT aids in accurate diagnosis when other imaging methods fail.
