[Federal parliamentary debates : complementary medicines and managed care]

This article looks at the parliamentary debates preceding the popular initiative on complementary medicine (2009) and the referendum on managed-care (2012). A lexicometric analysis of the debates published on the Parliament's website reveals that the theme of federal mandatory insurance law remains central in both cases, while other topics vary depending on the subject. Two distinct logics define the discourse: a partisan positioning logic for complementary medicine and a logic centered on cantonal representation and negotiation for managed care. These findings suggest that the Swiss parliamentary discourse has specific characteristics that warrant further exploration. This study paves the way for analyzing the parliamentary vision of health in Switzerland.
