Abstract:
Mangled extremities are complex injuries of the soft tissues, neurovascular structures, and bone that have devastating functional and psychological consequences for affected individuals. Successful management of mangling injuries to the upper extremities requires close collaboration between individuals from diverse training backgrounds. Hand surgery is a surgical discipline with an expansive repertoire of skills and knowledge allowing one to manage bone, joint, tendon, nerve, vasculature, and soft tissue pathology of the upper extremity in adults and children.
