Abstract:
Background and Purpose: The aim of the study was to adapt and validate the Multidimensional Workaholism Scale to the cultural context of Brazil and assess its psychometric properties. Methods: A study was conducted using the following steps: translation, reconciliation of translations, back-translation, expert committee review, pretest, and authors' review. The psychometric properties were then evaluated using goodness-of-fit indices, including the chi-square ratio to degrees of freedom (χ²/df), comparative fit index, goodness-of-fit index, Tucker-Lewis index, and root-mean-square error of approximation (RMSEA). Results: The Brazilian version of the Multidimensional Workaholism Scale showed excellent internal consistency (α = .95 and ω = .97), a four-dimension structure, and 60.85% of explained variance. Conclusions: The results showed the factor validity of the Brazilian version of the Multidimensional Workaholism Scale, confirming its reliability for measuring workaholism in Brazil.
