Objective:
The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of micro-CT in assessing the removal of obturation material from canals filled with gutta-percha and bioceramic sealer.
Materials And Methods:
Forty mandibular premolars were prepared with the Reciproc Blue R25 system and obturated with the single cone technique and Bio C Sealer. The specimens were divided into four groups (n = 10): Group GRI-Reciproc Blue R40 and Irrisonic; Group GRXP-Reciproc Blue R40 and XP Endo Finisher R; Group GRFI-Reciproc Blue R40, Flatsonic and final rinsing with Irrisonic; Group GRFXP-Reciproc Blue R40 and Flatsonic insert and final rinsing with XP Endo Finisher R. All samples were subjected to micro-CT after obturation, retreatment and final irrigation protocol. The one-way ANOVA test was used to compare the remaining filler volumes between each phase of the study and a repeated measures ANOVA was performed for each experimental group, followed by a Sidak post-test.
Results:
There was a difference in the remaining volume of obturation material among all experimental phases (p < 0.05) for all groups. The use of the Flatsonic insert did not result in better cleaning.
Conclusion:
The Irrisonic and XP Endo Finisher R systems effectively improve cleaning after retreatment with a reciprocating system, regardless of whether the Flatsonic insert is used.
Clinical Relevance:
The Irrisonic and XP Endo Finisher R systems enhance debris removal and antibacterial efficacy during endodontic retreatment. Their use aids practitioners in optimizing treatment protocols, promoting superior patient outcomes and increased success rates in complex clinical cases.
