Enantiomeric concentration determination via a single circular dichroism spectrum in chiral hyperbolic metamaterials
Abstract:
To determine the chiral molecular enantiomer concentrations (i.e., MD and ML), we theoretically proposed an approach that contains a chiral hyperbolic metamaterial (HMM) biosensor and two deduced analysis databases and obtained the MD and ML based on a single circular dichroism (CD) spectrum by reading its peak wavelength and intensity. Employing flavin mononucleotide molecules achieves an optical sensing platform with high sensitivity, strong sensing signal, and wide sensing range. The proposed detection strategy demonstrates three key strengths: broad molecular applicability, operational simplicity, and performance enhancement via metamaterial engineering, facilitating rapid molecular detection, drug monitoring, and chemical analysis.
