  • Data extraction and synthesis followed Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines.

Main Results:

  • Twenty-eight papers were included from 1,400 identified.
  • Organizational support recognized the link between individual professional development and organizational needs for high-quality services and engagement.
  • Support included strategic resource allocation, structured career planning, knowledge sharing, and interprofessional collaboration.

Conclusions:

  • Nurses' career planning and development are intertwined with personal growth and organizational objectives.
  • Effective support requires collaboration among nurses and other professionals.
  • Identifying optimal organizational structures can improve nursing career attractiveness and engagement.
