Diabetic foot (DF) can cause frailty in patients under 65. Frailty in DF patients is linked to advanced disease stages and higher rates of minor amputations.

Purpose of the Study:
- To assess the prevalence of frailty among patients under 65 presenting with diabetic foot.

- A prospective study included 97 patients under 65 with DF from January to September 2023.
- The Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS) assessed frailty at initial presentation.
- Patients were categorized as non-frail (CFS 1-4) or frail (CFS ≥5).

- 37.1% of patients (36 out of 97) were classified as frail.
- Frail patients demonstrated significantly higher rates of advanced Wagner stages 3 and 4 DF (p<0.001).
- Minor amputations were required for 52.7% of frail patients compared to 24.6% of non-frail patients (p=0.005).
Conclusions:
- Diabetic foot can induce frailty even in non-geriatric populations.
- Frailty in patients under 65 with DF correlates with disease severity and increased likelihood of minor amputations.
