    Background:

    • Pulmonary symptoms began in infancy, with severe bronchitis and bronchiectasis predominantly in the middle and lower lung lobes.
    • Two patients had sinusitis and two had otitis.

    • Patients lacked common causes of bronchiectasis such as cystic fibrosis, alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, and ciliary dysfunction.

    • The genetic defect likely predisposes individuals to recurrent pulmonary infections, leading to bronchiectasis and, in males, oligospermia with poor motility.
