Navigating Foster Care: A Practical Guide for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses
Abstract:
Children and adolescents in foster care are a vulnerable population with known fragmented care, racial disparities, medical complexities, and trauma histories. Providing comprehensive and trauma-informed care can be challenging for advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs). The National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners Partners for Vulnerable Youth Alliance for Children in Foster Care created a foster care toolkit for APRNs. The foster care toolkit was created to equip APRNs with the resources to increase knowledge and confidence in caring for youth in foster care.
