Abstract:
Reduction and fixation of condylar fractures with medial displacement present significant challenges due to the medial location of the proximal segment. This study reports a surgical technique for repositioning condylar fractures utilizing fracture forceps. For instance, internal fixation employing a retromandibular anterior trans-parotid (RAT/Innsbruck) approach has been implemented in unilateral condylar neck fracture with medial displacement and division >45 degrees. Eckelt/Rasse fracture forceps was transcutaneously affixed at the mandibular angle without an additional incision. The distal segment was docked to the proximal segment utilizing the pull-and-release maneuvers with the Eckelt/Rasse fracture forceps. This technique facilitates the reduction of the condyle in cases of severe medial displacement.
