VIDi - A Build-Measure-Learn Honed Visualization of the International Patient Summary

1Graz University of Technology, Graz, Austria.
Background:
The International Patient Summary (IPS) is a standard for the healthcare industry and designed as a minimal and non-exhaustive set of basic clinical data on one patient.
Objectives:
This standard is planned to be widely used in the Austrian healthcare system, but for the IPS, no visualization method has established itself.
Methods:
The minimum viable product (MVP) approach with its build-measure-learn cycle has been used to develop an IPS visualization.
Results:
VIDi - Visualizing IPS Data Intuitively - offers three different views. The very simplified view is designed for users who wish to access their medical data as patients, without having any medical expertise. The informative view serves as the display configuration for a medical expert, as it presents the entirety of the data. The dynamic view provides an additional configuration option to the informative view.
Conclusion:
As the MVP approach helped finding many solutions for the IPS visualization problems, more rounds of build-measure-learn would enhance such views on IPS data for both patients and medical experts.
