Abstract:
A novel 3D metal-organic framework (CUST-705) was successfully constructed through a mixed-ligand strategy under solvothermal conditions. The synthesized framework was employed as a template to prepare nitrogen-doped porous cobalt tetraoxide carbon, named Co3O4@N-C. Among the derived materials, Co3O4@N-C-700 demonstrated the most promising performance and underwent comprehensive evaluation as an anode in lithium-ion batteries, delivering a high specific capacity of 850 mA h/g under a current density of 0.1 A/g. After 100 charge-discharge cycles, Co3O4@N-C-700 retained a high discharge capacity of 944 mA h/g, with its capacity retention ratio reaching 90.87%. This outcome highlights its exceptional long-term cycling durability. This study confirms the substantial potential of Co3O4@N-C as an anode component for lithium-ion battery systems. It further indicates the material's promising applicability in various energy storage technologies, showcasing its adaptability for future high-performance devices.

Colors and Magnetism
When atoms or molecules absorb light at the proper frequency, their electrons are excited to higher-energy orbitals. For many main group atoms and molecules, the absorbed photons are in the ultraviolet range of the electromagnetic spectrum, which cannot be detected by the human eye. For coordination compounds, the energy difference between the d orbitals often allows photons in the visible range to be absorbed and emitted, which is seen as colors by the human...

Structural Isomerism
Isomers are different chemical species that have the same chemical formula. Structural isomerism of coordination compounds can be divided into two subcategories, the linkage isomers and coordination-sphere isomers.
Linkage isomers occur when the coordination compound contains a ligand that can bind to the transition metal center through two different atoms. For example, the CN− ligand can bind through the carbon atom or through the nitrogen atom. Similarly,...
Metal-Ligand Bonds
In these complexes, transition metals form coordinate covalent bonds, a kind of Lewis acid-base interaction in which both of the electrons in the bond are contributed by a donor (Lewis base) to an electron acceptor (Lewis acid). The Lewis acid in...
