Abstract:
The complex navigational environments significantly affect ship fuel consumption, thus influencing the energy efficiency of ships. Therefore, investigating the impacts of navigational environments on ship energy efficiency is crucial for the ship energy efficiency optimization. However, a comprehensive analysis on how complex navigational environments influence ship energy efficiency is still lacking. Therefore, the influence of multiple complex environments on ship energy efficiency is comprehensively analyzed in this paper. Firstly, the characteristics of various environments are analyzed. Then, the effects of multiple environments on the ship navigation and power system operation characteristics are elaborated. Subsequently, an overview of recent studies for optimizing ship energy efficiency considering complex navigational environments is presented. Finally, a comprehensive analysis is carried and the future studies are recommended. The analysis results show that the multiple complex navigational environments have an important impact on the vessel fuel efficiency. In the future, the dynamic relationship between complex time-varying environmental variables and ship energy efficiency needs to be further explored, and more effective optimization strategies for ship energy efficiency considering multiple complex environments should be further studied, thereby enhancing the vessel energy efficiency and advancing the sustainable development of the maritime sector.
