Objective:
To describe a surgical technique for pelvic prolapse mesh excision.
Setting:
Tertiary health center.
Participant:
A 62-year-old woman with chronic pelvic pain, beginning 10 years after Prolift® Polypropylene mesh vaginal mesh placement (Gynecare, Ethicon, Johnson & Johnson, Somerville, NJ, USA). Exam showed a 4 × 1 cm vaginal mesh erosion and tenderness over the left S3-S4 dermatomes. MRI showed scarring around S3-S4 nerve roots, therefore entrapment of S3-S4 nerve roots was presumed.
