Bode Plots Construction

643
The Bode plot is an essential tool in control system analysis, mapping the frequency response of a system through a magnitude plot and a phase plot, both against a logarithmic frequency axis. To construct a Bode plot, consider the transfer function H(ω):

Area of Science:

  • Physiology
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Signal Processing

Background:

  • Physiological systems exhibit complex, non-linear interactions across spatiotemporal scales.
  • Understanding system interconnectedness is key to dissecting biological responses.
  • Structure functions analyze signal variability, adaptability, and self-organizing behavior.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate structure function parameters of the PhotoPlethysmoGraphic (PPG) signal as physiological biomarkers.
  • To assess the correlation between PPG signal structure function and cardiorespiratory activity.
  • To explore the potential for real-time patient monitoring and health assessment.

Main Methods:

  • Analysis of amplitude fluctuations across timescales using structure functions.
  • Examination of fractal characteristics in short-term PPG signals.
  • Application of structure function analysis to PPG data from healthy young adults.

Main Results:

  • Structure function parameters demonstrated potential as reliable biomarkers for cardiorespiratory activity.
  • Preliminary tests on 40 healthy students (aged 19-30) showed promising results.
  • The study identified specific structure function characteristics linked to physiological states.

Conclusions:

  • Structure function analysis provides valuable insights into PPG signal dynamics.
  • PPG signal structure function parameters can serve as non-invasive physiological biomarkers.
  • This approach offers a framework for enhanced real-time health monitoring in clinical settings.
